The future of technology NOW
Providing an ICT platform for one million square metres of development is a huge challenge. But it’s one that Greater Springfield has developed for its commitment to a state-of-the-art, energy-efficient city centre.
Polaris Data Centre
One of the most exciting technological developments of Greater Springfield will be Polaris, a Tier III+ Data Centre. This $212 million development will host mission-critical ICT systems of government departments and international companies as well as supporting Greater Springfield’s key infrastructure services such as hospitals, banks, supply chain management, email and Internet.

Polaris Data Centre is a dedicated co-location facility offering 6,600m2 of raised floor space over 3 levels. It includes a privately funded dark-fibre communications network recently laid between Brisbane and Greater Springfield – the first of its kind in Queensland. Through partnering with Pipe Networks, connectivity to high-speed Internet and interstate locations is assured.

The Polaris Data Centre will form part of the core ICT and technology infrastructure of Greater Springfield’s CBD, and provide world-class data centre powers to South-East Queensland, Australia and South-East Asia.

Its innovative design provides a flexible and scalable data centre solution offering highly redundant power and cooling systems, ranging from 800W/m2 to 1500W/m2 average across the facility. The data centre is manned 24/7 by a security and facilities management team.

With construction to commence mid 2007, completion is expected by June 2008.
