Springfield Tower, the first of many
high rise buildings planned for the 320 hectare CBD of Greater Springfield (twice
the size of Brisbane CBD), is quite literally soaring even higher today as a
24.5 metre spire is erected on top of the 10-storey tower.
Springfield Land Corporation Chairman,
Dr Maha Sinnathamby, said the spire would take a 150 tonne and 80 tonne crane
to install and would become an icon on the Springfield skyline.
“Parkside is set to become the
premiere business address alternative to the Brisbane CBD. The erection of the
spire on Springfield
Tower will mark a
significant step forward in the development of Greater Springfield CBD,” Dr
Sinnathamby said.
“As well as providing a landmark for
the Greater Springfield CBD, the Tower’s spire will be a communications antenna
for Telstra.”
This milestone in the development of
the Tower, which continues to fly high, comes on the back of Springfield Land
Corporation announcing it has pre-let over 60% of the office space.
“Major tenants so far include GHD
Engineering which has taken 600 square metres, Landpartners which has taken
484.4 square metres and Quest which has taken 441.2 square metres,” said Chris Schroor, General Manager of Commercial
Projects for Springfield Land Corporation.
Other tenants include Cardno,
Insurserv and Telstra. Springfield Land
Corporation will also base their headquarters at the Tower.
Designed by Haysoms Architects and
constructed by Hutchinsons Builders, Springfield
Tower is a 4.5 Green Star
building and comprises 9,311 square metres of A-Grade office space featuring
large efficient floor plates, high levels of natural light and secure
underground parking.
There is still 3,500 square metres
of space available at Springfield
Tower, with a range of options
available.
“We will happily work with
prospective tenants to create the ideal office environment catered to their
company’s needs at leasing rates half that of the current CBD office space,” Chris Schroor said.
Springfield Tower is situated in the heart
of Parkside, part of Greater Springfield’s growing CBD, with easy access to
Universities, public and private schooling, Orion Shopping Centre, 24 hectares
of parklands and the award winning Brookwater Golf Course.
Construction of Springfield Tower
is scheduled for completion in the next few weeks.
