Maha Sinnathamby Chairman and Bob Sharpless Managing Director of the Springfield Land Corporation have announced the appointment of Chris Schroor as Executive Officer of Commercial Development, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

In his new role Mr Schroor will be responsible for all non-residential development activities as well as expanding strategies aimed at achieving Greater Springfield's job growth target.

Springfield Land Corporation Chairman Maha Sinnathamby said Mr Schroor had an outstanding track record with his previous role as General Manager of Commercial Projects and was the ideal choice for the role of Executive Officer of Commercial Development.

"Chris has been responsible for delivering many key projects since joining Springfield Land Corporation including Education City, Springfield Tower and the $230 million Polaris Data Centre," Mr Sinnathamby said.

"He has not only delivered successful projects but has also been responsible for attracting important alliance partners such as Energex, Telstra, NEC, Dalkia and APC.

"Chris' passion for the reduction of overall business costs by applying new technologies is evident in the success he has had with these current projects.

"He is also focused on environmentally sustainable built solutions and supports the attraction of clean technology companies and business models to the Greater Springfield region."

In his new role Mr Schroor has already developed an investment attraction plan to support the establishment of Australia's first Knowledge Process Outsourcing Hub as well as the introduction of Disaster Recovery services for the Asia Pacific Region.

Mr Schroor has been with Springfield Land Corporation since 2001, following his previous success in the design and construction of many projects in varied sectors such as retail, health, defence, hospitality, industrial and mining.

Greater Springfield will one day accommodate a residential population of 86,000 and an equivalent population of 105,000.

So far $2.3 billion has been spent on the development of Greater Springfield, representing only 11.5% of the total planned. The project is currently investing more than $650 million per year on development activities across residential, commercial, retail, education, health, technology, recreation and open space.
