Home grown Springfield company Strategic Directions is definitely proof that Greater Springfield is a city offering greater possibilities for multinationals like NEC and locals alike.
Strategic Directions commenced operations in early 2004 with just two staff members, joint owners Chris Goldstone and Mike Andrea.
Mr Andrea said the company was approached by Springfield Land Corporation in July 2004 to develop a telecommunications strategy for the city.
"We were tasked by Springfield Land Corporation to drive the ICT masterplan for the city as independent advisors".
"By 2006 we had set up an office in Greater Springfield and have since grown to employ 16 staff at offices in Brisbane, Canberra and Melbourne".
"Our national headquarters recently located to the Springfield Tower," he said.
Mr Andrea said the company continues to "punch above its weight" to achieve great success.
Mr Andrea is now also the external Chief Information Officer for Springfield Land Corporation and has just completed working on the Polaris Data Centre with the company.
"We were the design authority on Polaris, which forms part of Greater Springfield's key ICT plan".
"Now we are focussing on Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) and further enabling eHealth delivery and collaboration across Health City and Education City," Mr Andrea said.
In addition to Springfield Land Corporation, Strategic Directions' clients include Federal and State Government departments, local Councils and corporate clients including ASX listed companies.
"We focus on five different practice areas including; ICT management and strategy, telecommunications and networking, data centres, telephony and contact centres and project management," Mr Andrea said.
"We've built ourselves a corporate reputation which has led to us being involved in innovative and major ICT and business management projects".
"Next on our agenda is two more Polaris Data Centre developments in the Sydney and Melbourne regions and a national digital archive which we are developing in South Australia".
"The South Australian solution is a geothermal data centre leading into a geothermal power plant. We are working on a green IT agenda and are planning for the centre to be 100 per cent environmentally friendly, providing tenants with zero carbon footprint data storage".
Springfield Land Corporation Chairman Maha Sinnathamby said Strategic Directions is an ideal example of how Greater Springfield is a city offering young businesses greater possibilities.
"It's great to see what opportunities Greater Springfield can provide to companies based here," Mr Sinnathamby said.
"Mike and his team are proof that it's not just a slogan, these things do happen. I'm proud to be involved with such a thriving company which calls Greater Springfield home".
