Educational and learning opportunities in the Greater Springfield region have received a big boost with MEGT (Australia) Ltd renewing its agreement to provide its government contracted Australian Apprenticeships Support Services from its office at the Education City campus in Springfield Central.

MEGT's Ron Russell said MEGT views their location within Education City as a strategic alliance in providing a complete service to businesses that invest in the increased skills of their staff.

"Since opening our office at Education City in January 2008, we have seen steady and encouraging growth in enquiries. As a government-contracted service, MEGT Australian Apprenticeships Centre provides free advice, on and administration of, traineeships and apprenticeships.

"We help businesses with all the formal documentation required for their apprenticeships and traineeships as well as training for existing workers. We expect requests for our service to increase as the city of Greater Springfield and the booming western corridor continue to grow.

"It is exciting to be a part of Education City's innovative approach to centralising education and training services," Mr Russell said.

Education City's Director Jim Varghese said "Local businesses should certainly talk to MEGT first before looking for training for existing staff, for their apprentice or trainee and to find out about government Incentives. MEGT's advice and services can help transform businesses.

"Education City is very excited that MEGT has renewed their lease and looks forward to working with them in the coming years to further develop the campus.

"Spread across 18 hectares, Education City will be strategically developed over coming years to cater for a student population of about 10,000," Mr Varghese said.
