In an ironic twist, Greater Springfield's $230 million Polaris Data Centre has left the door ajar for businesses looking to capitalise on the final remaining floor space in the technologically advanced fortress.
Known for its impenetrable security - including biometric fingerprint scanners, man traps and 24x7x365 manned security - the Polaris Data Centre has just 900m2 of raised floor space remaining from a total of 9,999m2.
Springfield Land Corporation's Executive Director of Commercial Development, Chris Schroor, said tenants of the final remaining space in Polaris would enjoy some "high class" neighbours in the virtual address.
"Anyone who chooses to take up tenancy in Polaris Data Centre will reside alongside respectable tenants such as Suncorp, Citec and Ipswich City Council.
"Tenants of Polaris Data Centre enjoy a fast, secure and reliable private dark fibre connection to Brisbane and Sydney at surprisingly affordable rates," he said.
Designed as a primary and secondary IT disaster recovery facility, the centre's primary functions include data storage and exchange facilities for telecommunications carriers as well as hosting mission-critical ICT systems for Government departments and corporate enterprises.
"With lease rates starting from $3200/m2 a lot of businesses will be able to relocate their IT servers from their current offices to free up space and save money while also benefiting from the cutting edge benefits offered by Polaris," Mr Schroor said.
Polaris Data Centre offers almost 7000m2 of raised floor area over three storeys of climate and humidity controlled ‘data floors'. Onsite is also power generators and enough fuel to power the entire facility at N+2 redundancy for 48 hours.
"Essentially Polaris Data Centre enables businesses to continue to operate in the event of a disaster for up to two days meaning improved productivity and a decreased risk of the loss of crucial data."
Polaris Data Centre has power availability of 800W/m2 and stores 2.5 million litres of water onsite (2/3 the capacity of an Olympic swimming pool) to ensure the air temperature on every floor does not deviate from x and y degrees Celsius.
Michael Page of Coffey Projects played a vital role in the project management of Polaris Data Centre and was delighted to be awarded the "Runner-Up" award for project management in the category of projects above $100m at the 2009 Australian Institute of Project Management awards.
"Once again we have been proud to represent the Polaris joint venture team (Springfield Land Corporation and Suncorp)
"The lucky businesses that choose to take up the final tenancies in Polaris can rest assured they will be moving in to a facility that will provide them with a world class connection to the business world, ‘fort knox' style security, an uninterrupted power supply and peace of mind to carry on with their business rather than worry about their IT capabilities," he said.
