Hajime Sasaki, Global Chairman of one of the world’s leading IT companies, NEC, has formally opened NEC Australia’s new facility in Greater Springfield.

The opening is the result of NEC’s alliance with Springfield Land Corporation – Greater Springfield’s master developer – to provide the Information Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure for the entire city.

In addition, NEC has signed a $15-million agreement to lease a significant portion of the purpose-built Polaris Data Centre to support the delivery of hosted ICT services to Greater Springfield’s burgeoning business community.

Wataru Takeuchi, NEC Australia, said the most important aspect to any modern city was connectivity.

Springfield Land Corporation Executive General Manager of Commercial ProjectsChris Schroor said NEC opening its doors in Greater Springfield is a real coup for the fast-evolving city.

“We are excited to work with NEC, the company is a household name and its faith in the future of Greater Springfield is a big boost for our city,” Mr Schroor said.

The NEC office is located in the state-of-the-art Springfield Tower in Greater Springfield’s Parkside Business Precinct.

Designed by Haysoms Architects and constructed by Hutchinsons Builders, Springfield Tower is the first high-rise building to be completed in the Greater Springfield CBD.
