Springfield Tower, the landmark office development in Queensland's thriving Western Corridor, is officially open for business.
Chairman of Springfield Land Corporation Maha Sinnathamby said the 10 storey $60 million Tower is a major leap forward in creating a world class Business District in the heart of the west.
"Brisbane's CBD is choking on its own success, the city is growing so fast that infrastructure can't keep up," Mr Sinnathamby said.
"Springfield's CBD has twice the land area of Brisbane's, so it makes sense for Businesses to move. It's also cheaper, has unmatched IT infrastructure and most importantly employees don't have to spend hours commuting to and from work.
"Multi-nationals including electronics giant NEC as well companies such as Cardno, GHD Engineering and Suncorp to name just a few have moved in convinced the future of business in South East Queensland is in the Western Corridor.
"By building a city from scratch, it's been possible to implement the very best and most efficient communications network from the ground up, providing unrivalled access to services and functionality for all businesses."
Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale said Springfield Tower is a mile stone for the Western Corridor as it is the first of many high rise buildings planned for the 18-hectare Parkside business precinct.
"Parkside has approval for 600,000 square metres of commercial office space and will be a significant business hub for the Western Corridor," Mayor Pisasale said.
"Over 100 people each week are moving to Ipswich, with many choosing to live in Springfield.
"With the fast paced rate of development and growth in the area, it is timely to locate a council business centre at Parkside.
"There is a need to encourage new businesses and job creation in this thriving area of Ipswich."
Designed by Haysoms Architects and constructed by Hutchinsons Builders, Springfield Tower has achieved a 4 Star Green Star – Office Design v2 certified rating and comprises 9,311 square metres of A-Grade office space featuring large efficient floor plates, high levels of natural light and secure underground parking.
Springfield Tower is situated in the heart of Parkside, in Greater Springfield's growing CBD, within walking or a few minutes driving distance to the University of Southern Queensland, public and private schooling, Orion Shopping Centre, 24 hectares of parklands and the award winning Brookwater Golf Course.
