Australia's largest master planned development has nabbed yet another honour at the 2010 Property Council of Australia National Innovation and Excellence Awards held at Star City in Sydney on Saturday night.

Greater Springfield was awarded the top honour in the National RPS Master Planned Communities category.

Springfield Land Corporation Chairman Maha Sinnathamby said more than 20 years of passionate advocacy for Springfield and the master planned community concept was clearly paying off.

“The one thing that wasn't part of the master plan, was to win as many wonderful accolades as we have for Greater Springfield, so I am proud and humbled to be acknowledged in this way by the Property Council of Australia,” he said.

“Awards like this really belong to all the people who believed enough to come on the Springfield journey. It is also further proof the master planned community concept will spearhead South East Queensland?s population growth solution.”

The prestigious honour comes just weeks after Greater Springfield won the master planned category at the 61st World Congress of the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) in Bali. FIABCI Prix d'Excellence Awards is the annual accolade of awards bestowed upon the world's best developments.

“We began building this vision 20 years ago with a 2860 hectare parcel of land and endured derision from many who dismissed our dream as folly,” Mr Sinnathamby said.

“Today, $3.2 billion dollars later Greater Springfield is Australia?s largest and fastest growing master planned community with a CBD twice the land area of Brisbane.

“With the recently announced fast tracking of a Springfield Rail Link plus massive projects in train – such as an 18-hectare master planned education precinct and a 52 hectare Health City development – the best is yet to come for Greater Springfield.”

Mr Sinnathamby said it is estimated more than $15 billion will be spent in the next 20 years further developing Greater Springfield.
